Camp Carvela is the perfect place to host your school's environmental education program, leadership retreat, or community-building event. Nestled in the woods a short drive from downtown Traverse City, our location offers a quiet and sprawling place to gather, explore, and learn.
We can accommodate various group sizes and program lengths throughout the winter, spring, and fall; we have limited availability June-August.

Programming
Our program goal is to connect participants to their communities, their environment, and each other through outdoor, choice-based experiences.
We achieve this by giving participants maximum control over their time with us. For each daily programming period, we offer students with several choices for outdoor, place-based activities. This helps ensure that they are engaged in their activity, and gives them the opportunity to practice group decision making and lead their peers. This is true for out-of-camp excursions as well; participants may choose from several options each day. Unstructured free-time is an essential part of each day, during which participants have the chance to interact freely and create their own fun. Free-time also enables participants to continue an activity that they are particularly interested in.
Have specific programming and curriculum needs? Let us know! We can co-design custom itineraries to fit your group's unique requirements.
